Community comes together to discuss Stretford development plans

Upwards of 200 residents gathered at the Public Hall on Sunday (24 Sept) to discuss the recent plans released by Trafford Council to develop a new university and a student village in Stretford.

In particular, the refreshed masterplan proposes accomodation for 1,700 people for the Lacy Street car park as a well as a "student hub" in the Essoldo cinema - just over the road from the Hall.

Friends of Stretford Public Hall, as a key community-led organisation in the area, is seeking to help facilitate and co-ordinate the community response to the proposed plans, to try and ensure the consultation on the developments is meaningful and we can determine constructive approaches to respond to this as a community.

Thank you to everyone who attended and contributed to this first session. The minutes from the meeting can be found here and we will be in touch soon with dates for further meetings, to be able to come together during the consultation period.
