Kamal Arafa

Manchester based singer/songwriter, Kamal Arafa made five solo albums before forming ‘The Moonlight Band’ in 2007. The band gained popularity in and around Manchester and eventually played a slot on Glastonbury’s Avalon stage in 2011. The band split shortly after this. Kamal continued to write on his own until 2012 when he teamed up with three friends to record a Christmas song, “It’s Christmas Time Again,” a project affectionately referred to as, “the winter project”. The band continued to write and perform together as, ‘Winter Project,’ even recording a version of Kamal’s, “Longford Park”. After two years of gigging in Manchester, the band went their separate ways and Kamal returned to his solo work.

Kamal finished work on his latest album, “Forever Deformed By Love,” at the end of 2019. It was released in early January of this year. On the 27th March, Kamal will perform the whole album live, with a full band, including long time collaborators, Alan Lowles and Rachel Ward.

Soaring and effortless; Kamal’s heart warming and sometimes bizarre tales envelope your soul. He possesses worldliness and a wry songwriting style that is both thoughtful and tender. Think Rufus Wainwright meets Devendra Banhart.

Supported by Hugo Kensdale

Macclesfield based singer songwriter Hugo Kensdale writes alt folk/pop/rock melody driven songs. He performs mostly solo, sometimes full band. After several years gigging around the UK, including support slots for Steve Craddock (Paul Weller/Ocean Colour Scene), Turin Brakes and a two month residency at the Barbican centre in London, Hugo now spends much of his time on the road playing shows between Germany (and other EU countries) and the UK travelling, writing and recording in his self built camper van, Ivan.
